Talking Racine 22 -The story behind the Dickert/Weidner Mound Cemetery Clash

Racine Mayor John Dickert and members of Racine Common Council, vote to sell unplatted land which lies on a mapped Indian burial site. The Meredith family decided it wanted to purchase the site for their family to be buried there. Mayor Dickert was the deciding vote to allow the Meredith’s to purchase the property. Mayor John Dickert announced after the scientists and geologists refused to disturb sacred Indian burial ground, that the city was STILL MOVING FORWARD The mound was document by Dr. Hoy in 1855… His work was published and accepted by the Smithsonian in Washington DC. THIS IS “PART 1”
